A novel moment calls for a novel nominee - it's Kamala
In full candor, let me confess I pondered whether to weigh in on whether President Joe Biden should continue seeking a second term; not because his presidency hasn't been a success (it has), but because his successes could be so easily undone (and then some) by another sure-to-be disastrous Donald Trump term, with 'Project 2025' as his reference material. Like many of you, I went back and forth: the President deserves our gratitude - and the world deserves our best effort to avoid Trump 2.0.
It was in his own moment of clarity that President Biden concluded - as had many around him - that our "best effort" meant he must step aside. Magnanimous to his core, he shared his decision and went about the work he still has six months to perform for a grateful nation.
While there's so much to say in gratitude for Joseph Robinette Biden, I want to use this time to take note of this moment for us all. You can feel it. You can sense it.
Kamala Harris has reinvigorated our spirit and determination to fight for our freedom, our future ... and most importantly, our democracy. The name will change, but make no mistake: democracy will still be on the ballot. We've rallied behind our Vice President, and it's my hope I get to work with "Madame President" beginning next January as we retake the House and hold the Senate and Oval Office. It's going to take flipping at least a handful of districts, and South Carolina's 7th is up for grabs - so I'm asking you to join me in existential moment to defeat MAGA extremism and "fire Fry." If he goes, so goes Marjorie, Boebert, Matt Gaetz, and Speaker Mike Johnson.
Relegating MAGA Republicans to the minority means action on reproductive rights, immigration reform, action on gun violence, strengthening Medicare and healthcare access, addressing climate change, protecting Social Security, criminal justice reform, ensuring quality educational opportunities for all our children and young adults regardless of income and defeating fascism - at home and abroad.
We can make a positive impact on all of those concerns, while continuing to do as President Biden has these past three-plus years in growing our economy, taming inflation, growing your paychecks and diversifying our energy sector.
As we approach the four-year anniversary of the day then-candidate Biden tabbed then-Senator Harris to be his running mate, I'm proud to be running on the same slate as the prosecutor taking on the convicted felon I'll do all i can to help get her elected while working to do the same to earn my place in Congress to represent you and not deep-pocketed donors or special interests. No one can serve two masters. So I'm counting on you to register, to vote, and if you can, to pitch in to help me, help us, help Vice President Harris preserve and protect democracy and keep America moving forward - towards that "more perfect union" we continue to work towards.
What do you say, can you help us?
