While I'm enjoying the final few days of a long-overdue family vacation, I took a break to do what many of you did earlier this evening: I watched as Minnesota Governor Tim Walz addressed a raucous crowd - and the nation - to accept Vice President Kamala Harris' invitation to join her on the Democratic Party ticket.
What's not to like? Husband, father, veteran, teacher, coach, Congressman and Governor. Tim Walz is a man of many experiences, but also a man of great character with a history of service to others and a vision for a "more perfect union." You can tell he was a successful football coach if - like me - you were more charged up to "fight & win the damned game."
To strengthen our team, we could still use more spirited players. It'll take canvassing, phone calling, postcard & letter writing, sign posting, social media advocacy and, yes, it'll take money, as well.
As a fellow career educator, I am excited that Tim Walz is leading our team. He also provides for our campaign just the example needed: a former educator, who served in Congress, for a largely rural "leans red" part of his state. This tells us "we can win, too!"
We have a solid team already, but there's room for more role players on our roster. Are you in?
